How to Avoid the Valentine's Panic

,

February 14th can be a nightmare for some guys. This happens because some men try to ignore all the Valentine's mania and hype, then suddenly, it's the day before V-Day and everyone's exchanging Valentines gifts and cards... And what have you got for your bonny babe? Zilch.

This leads to a panicked rush out to the mall and joining the throngs of other disorganized people. You end up coming home with Valentines presents as humdrum as gift-wrapped chocolates. Now maybe if you were a bit more organized, this fiasco would never have happened. If you want to change your bad habits, you'll need to start early. So, to enjoy a panic-free Valentines Day, here are a couple of rules you should follow...

Having an idea of what you want to get your sweetheart before you head out shopping solves the whole box of chocolates debacle. According to your budget, set a maximum amount you want to spend on your lover (and try to stick to it!).

Next, write down a few ideas of what you think she'd like. Get ideas from things like her favorite movies, songs, animals, and colors etc. And be a good listener, your girlfriend/wife may be dropping subtle hints of what she'd like, so just be sure to write them down on your list so you don't forget them.

If you're a crafty guy, include a few Valentine's gifts ideas you could make or bake - yup, that means donning your apron, and sacrificing your 'macho' image - she'll appreciate the effort you've gone to. What's more, you'll save yourself some money! And when you're out with your family and friends, you're bound to come up with more great Valentines ideas to add to your list, so always keep it handy in your back pocket.

Be Shopping Savvy

Head to the shops early... and by this, we're not talking 'early' as in 6:00a.m., we're talking date-wise, e.g. BEFORE Valentine's Day. Even better, organize yourself to get all your V-Day shopping done at least by early February. This way, you'll avoid all the crowds and the hassle of all hassles: trying to find a parking space.

Never buy the first thing you see

Since you're getting your shopping done early, you should have heaps of time to shop around and bag a bargain in the process.

Valentine's gifts for hard-to-buy-for gals

For totally impossible girlfriends and wives, personalized Valentines gifts are a sure-fire way to warm the cockles of her heart. In a nutshell, you can customize your gift with her name plus a special message. There are loads of personalized Valentines presents up for grabs, namely personalized calendars. These aren't your regular kind of calendars, though. No siree. These cleverly integrate her name into the twelve stunning images. What's more, you can even get love-themed calendars, which feature both your names in the romantic images.

Keep ALL your receipts

Last but not least, make sure you don't throw away your receipts, just in case something goes disastrously wrong.
